Background and Activities

The Western States region collaborates with the NHPCC and other public and private health agencies at the local, state, and federal levels to deliver the highest quality comprehensive health care to patients. The regional core center, Center for Inherited Blood Disorders (CIBD), is one of 20 designated by HRSA as 340B “Peers” in the U.S. Regional activities include:

  • Integrating clinical pharmacy into comprehensive clinical care to reinvest 340B Drug Pricing Program savings back into the HTCs to serve more patients and expand services
  • Influencing state policy advocacy on policies and programs to ensure adequate reimbursement, and access to high-quality care
  • Expanding outreach to reduce geographic barriers
  • Advancing research in bleeding and clotting disorders through clinical trials (including gene therapy), cost of care and burden of illness, sexuality, point of care ultrasound, and the development of new therapies (e.g., Factor XIII)
  • Supporting the national Patient Satisfaction Survey (PSS)
