This webinar will explore the connections between camp and the transition from pediatric to adult healthcare. Presenters will discuss how camp supports individuals with bleeding disorders to learn the skills to successfully and seamlessly move into adulthood. We’ll hear from three presenters about the power of camp and the work they do tied to creating positive and impactful camp experiences for youth. Tracey Gaslin, a Hemophilia Nurse Practitioner with the University of Louisville HTC and Chief Executive Officer of the Alliance for Camp Health, will discuss the links between camp and the transition to adulthood and share approaches to promoting life skills, such as self-infusing, and social emotional development. Amber Ferrell, Social worker with the University of Louisville HTC, will discuss her role as a social worker at camp and share how camp supports social emotional health and well-being for campers. Finally, Makenzie Sledd, Physical Therapist with the St. Louis Children’s Hospital HTC, will discuss her role as a Physical Therapist at camp and how she infuses camp activities with a physical therapy approach.
